In-Depth OXVA XLIM C Pod Mod Review and Rating
As a veteran vaper and reviewer, few things excite me more than fresh brands aiming to shake up the crowded pod mod marketplace. Relative newcomer OXVA recently unleashed their XLIM C model, a streamlined pod device with the holy grail combination of adjustability and affordability. After extensive real-world testing, this promising upstart left me thoroughly impressed.
Adding Some Ox to the Vape
Founded in 2019, OXVA’s unconventional name amalgamates “ox” with the “va” sound from vape - hence “ox vape.” Their first products debuted only in 2021. So as a nimble young startup, I was genuinely curious to see if OXVA could compete with mature giants boasting far deeper R&D budgets and patents.
The XLIM C, their simplified pod system, felt like an ideal test study. Stripping away complex features, could they still deliver satisfying performance? My results suggest they warrant attention.
Tantalizing Spec Sheet
For an affordable micro pod lacking intimidating tech, those vital stats seem sufficiently robust. Let’s examine closer how that spec sheet translates into reality.
Thoughtfully Designed Aesthetics
While OXVA keeps functional ambition modest by necessity, they invested heavily into aesthetics - an area far too often overlooked in budget devices. The XLIM C absolutely dazzles.
Its streamlined hexagonal tubular silhouette, crafted from lightweight yet robust aluminum alloy, fits easily into any pocket without weighing you down. A distinct diagonal split down the middle separates chic two-tone color schemes for added visual intrigue.
Beyond classic monochrome versions in refined Red, Black and Gunmetal, explorers can select bolder Green Camo and Blue Purple gradients or tri-color shimmer treatments in glossy Green Silver and Gold Silver. Even the side-firing button bears an attractive etched X. Little touches go a long way toward pride of ownership.
Straightforward Operation
As an ideal starter device for novice vapers, OXVA smartly kept usage straightforward. The XLIM C relies on automatic draw activation for hassle-free puffing. Its physical button toggles unit on/off when pressed five times, while three clicks cycles through low, medium and high 8-22 watt heat outputs - altering vapor density to your mood.
A side airflow slider provides further flexibility, transitioning from exceedingly tight MTL inhales up through loose MTL. So while favoring simplicity, OXVA snuck in some fine-tuning capability beyond disposable peers at this price point.
Smooth Sailing Performance
The 0.6-ohm and 0.8-ohm Kanthal mesh coils included for the XLIM C aim to satisfy with optimized nic salt or freebase e-liquids depending on your preference. I sampled 20mg and 25mg nic salt juices along with 6mg freebase and came away mighty impressed.
Both coils deliver outstanding flavor translation from first puff through the 30 mL lifespan before fading. And the coils closely matched each other on most scoring metrics like density, accuracy and longevity. The 0.6-ohm mesh edges out ahead mainly by enabling airier direct lung hits.
Charging the XLIM C’s 900mAh battery took around 40 minutes. Battery life reliably spanned multiple days of moderate use. And the side display accurately conveyed remaining capacity unlike some pods exaggerating on paper.
